Shirley Ford
Shirley Ford is a retired Lieutenant Colonel with the United States Army. She fell in love with Thoroughbred racing many years ago. She and Lee decided to begin rescuing these gorgeous horses out of the kill pens and from abuse and starvation situations, from which Dream Haven Equine Sanctuary was founded.
Director of Horse and Sanctuary Operations
Kathleen Deegan
Kathleen, a former Jockey, has an extensive background in equine rehabilitation and veterinary care. She has dedicated her career to rehabilitating race horses of the worst starvation and abuse cases to health and happiness. In her spare time Kathleen enjoys working with her own horses and looks forward to showing her APHA, Reserve World Champion stallion, Monstah, in 2022.

Katie Hartmann
With a background in Marketing, Katie serves on the general board and additionally provides off-site training for a selected horse that is physically fit and young enough to pursue another sport.

Leslie Watson
Leslie provides equine transport and stall space at her location when needed. Her farm is close to Texas Equine Hospital. She kept Mr Rail and Two Steppin Sisters for several weeks when they first arrived and provided Offshore News' care for the months until we had to euthanize her.

Sophia Overton
Sophia is an avid equestrian. She trains and exhibits one of our sanctuary horses, Explosive Colin, on the flat and over fences for his second career.
Marketing/Media
Heidi Schlenker
Heidi is a marketing specialist, and also heads up numerous graphic design and photography projects. With extensive horse showing and breeding experience, she enjoys showing and breeding her National Champion stallion, Volturi, in her spare time.
Professional Greeter & Traffic Controller
Ernie
Ernie is Kathleen's sidekick. He is the resident professional greeter and traffic controller. In his spare time, Ernie thwarts potential dangers such as wild hogs, raccoons, opossums, snakes, and more! If you speed down our driveway, Ernie will issue you a citation.
