Meet Our Horses
Dream Haven Equine Sanctuary is home to a total of 23 horses. Twenty one of them live onsite, and two are currently offsite in training for new careers. Scroll down to familiarize yourself with our residents!
Pops
Pops is a 34 Year-Old, black Jockey Club gelding. Pops has no teeth and requires a special diet of soaked senior feed. In his heyday, he was a successful lead horse for chuckwagon races.

Sinister Spinner
Spinner is a 2010 Bay Jockey Club gelding by Rockport Harbor out of Granny Spinster.

Spinner is our resident jokester and loves to jump everything. He is a hard keeper and is prone to ulcers. Spinner is currently in training with Katie Hartmann and Katherine Biehn at the Hickman Training facility in Hockley, TX.

Mr Rail
Mr Rail is a 2008 Bay Jockey Club gelding by Rail out of Laughable.

Mr Rail is prone to hoof abscesses, white line disease, and has very minimal hoof wall. He currently has a shoe boil and needs a donut. He gets a daily hoof supplement and Pro Elite feed. We are in need of a set of soft ride boots, and ice boots for him. Mr. Rail also has excelled in flat work and jumping. Mr. Rail is a kind soul who loves people. Rail prefers the apple molasses treats as opposed to carrots.

In Loving Memory of
Boyfriend
Boyfriend was laid to rest this year after he failed to thrive after an eye removal surgery. He lived out his remaining years with us and was well-loved. He passed peacefully and is laid to rest here at the sanctuary. He will forever be missed.
Seeking The Day
Lucky is a 2010 Bay Jockey Club gelding by Seeking Greatness out of H L I Girl.

Explosive Colin

Jimmie, as we call him, has been retrained for a career in jumping and is doing well! However, he battles white line disease and thrush. It resolves with treatment but seems to be a chronic, recurring issue. He requires Platinum Performance for hoof maintenance. Jimmie is currently under a 6 month lease at Switch Willo Stables, in the Austin area.

Phoenix is a 27 Yr-Old Chestnut Jockey Club gelding with no tattoo. He is broke to ride and has been over fences. Phoenix is a good boy, with great feet. He is our gelding herd Alpha. He is starting to have teeth issues.

Tagalong is an unidentified Bay Jockey Club gelding in his mid teens. His tattoo has been burnt off making identification impossible. He requires a fat supplement, hoof supplement, and 3-4 feedings per day. He has a fractured face, mineralized tendons on his left hind, and requires daily Equioxx, and bute on really bad days. He requires sedation for the farrier.

Serendipity
Serendipity is a 4 yr old unregistered Bay Thoroughbred or QH mare who is prone to tying up, requires a special low starch diet, and requires sedation to trim. She is a sensitive mare that can be a bit on the hesitant side of trust. Serendipity is currently in training training with Katie Hartmann and Katherine Biehn at the Hickman Training facility in Hockley, TX. She is going nicely under saddle!

Annie is a 1999 Bay Jockey Club mare by Pas Seul out of Itty She is un-raced. Annie is a gentle old gal that is prone to abscesses and is previously foundered. She would benefit from a set of ice boots during her laminitic flare ups. She can be a bit hard to catch at times, but is easy to get along with and is a sweetheart.

H.E.'s Girl
Pumpkin is a 2003 Chestnut Jockey Club mare by Turkoman out of Countess Erica.

Pumpkin has severe arthritis in her knees and right hind ankle. She requires equioxx or bute and does not tend to winter well. She’s one of the alpha mares in the herd, but easy to get along with and good for the farrier. She could benefit from a set of ice boots.

Slews Darlin
Darlin is a 2011 Chestnut Jockey Club mare by Saint Augustus out of Slews Class. She is un-raced. Darlin has a stifle injury and can be a bit of an issue to handle. She has her good days and bad days. Some days she’s easy and others she’s difficult. She requires sedation for the farrier.

Victoria
Victoria is an unregistered chestnut mare, who is roughly 7 years old. She is hairless due to coming in with extreme fungus and it just doesn’t grow back well. Victoria requires fly sheets, fly mask, shoofly boots, fly spray, medicated shampoos, and she is prone to scratches. She is one of the sweetest mares at the Sanctuary and adores people.

Dash Gap
Dash is a 2009 Bay Jockey Club mare by More Than Ready out of Chase Gap. She is un-raced. Dash is a fearful and reactive mare who is an easy keeper. Once she is caught she is pretty easy to handle. She recently sustained a fractured skull during play and is in the barn being doctored. She is healing nicely. She requires sedation for the farrier.

Twostepnsisters
Sister is a 2012 Jockey Club Gray mare by Porto Foricos out of Mayicutin.

Sister has a suspensory injury, nodes on her tail, and she requires bute when she becomes sore due to her previous injury. She tries hard to be an alpha mare, but the other alphas won’t let her. She’s a good girl and loves people.

Kitty is an 11 yr old, unhandled, not halter broke mare. She currently cannot be caught but is starting to learn to tolerate and trust people. She comes up to the fence and will sometimes allow you to touch her, but will not allow herself to be caught.
